Former A’s pitcher arrested with more than 44 pounds of cocaine, heroin

Former major leaguer Esteban Loaiza, the A’s starting pitcher the last time they played an ALCS game at the Coliseum, was arrested after being caught with more than 44 pounds of heroin and/or cocaine, Yahoo Sports reported Monday.

Loaiza, 46, was arrested on Friday in San Diego, where he’s currently being heldon $200,000 bail after being charged with intent to sell either heroin or cocaine. He was found to be in possession of more than 20 kilograms of drugs, according to the police report.

Loaiza is scheduled to appear in court in San Diego on Wednesday.
