The moves that the A’s made in the first half provide a glimpse of what we should expect in the second half. They’ll continue evaluating the young players they’ve already promoted while clearing space for others knocking on the door at Triple-A.
However, that doesn’t mean everything is crystal clear coming out of the All-Star break. Here’s five predictions for the second half of 2017….
There’s no question the A’s will wheel and deal leading up to the July 31 trade deadline. Numerous teams have been linked to starter Sonny Gray. And the White Sox’s trade of Jose Quintana to the Cubs was a gift for the A’s in that it takes another of the top controllable starting pitchers off the market and improves the A’s leverage in asking for a bundle in return for Gray.
