SEATTLE — The A’s hit the All Star break Sunday with a 4-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners.
Oakland (39-50), which tallied two hits, had just one runner get past second base.
Seattle ace Felix Hernandez (4-3, 4.44), who has struggled at times this season, looked like his old self striking out eight in six scoreless innings. Hernandez passed Hall of Famer Juan Marichal (2,302) for 49th on the all-time strikeout list.
Despite posting a losing record at the all-star break for the third consecutive season, Oakland manager Bob Melvin said he likes the direction the A’s are headed.
