TORONTO - For four games, two last-place teams will battle it out north of the border, with the Blue Jays taking round one 4-2 Monday at Rogers Centre.
The A’s weren’t expected to be contenders, but the Blue Jays, on the other hand, were thought to be a force in the AL East, especially with their stacked lineup. The clubs entered Monday with identical records, 44-54, but Toronto held Oakland to two hits - none in the final four innings.
One of the hits came from Matt Chapman, who continued his road power surge, homering for the third consecutive game, with a solo shot in the fifth off Francisco Liriano.
