Today in Baseball History:

  • 1910 - Jack Coombs pitched sixteen scoreless innings for the Philadelphia Athletics against the Chicago, striking out eighteen White Sox. The game ended in a tie.
  • 1982 - Joel Youngblood becomes the first player to get two hits for two different teams in two different cities on the same day. Youngblood singled for the Mets in the afternoon, was traded to the Expos, and entered a night game in Philadelphia in the fourth inning.
  • On the other side of the outfield, Chad Pinder made his second incredible catch in as many days.
