Not everything you throw against the wall sticks. The A’s made a reasonable enough bet when they signed veteran reliever Dylan Floro to a minor league deal last offseason; but as of yesterday, Floro is no more-o. The A’s released the righty, who pitched to a 7.04 ERA through 16 appearances in Triple-A.
Jason Burke at SI.com notes that outside of an especially horrific outing on May 31, Floro had a pretty good line going with the Aviators. But the 34-year-old’s peripherals have declined in recent years: the fastball velocity averages below 90 mph corresponding with a reduced K rate, and Floro’s’ ground ball rate was at just 40.
