Doolittle puts triceps problem behind him in a brief inning

Depending on your point of view, it either wasn’t much of a day for Sean Doolittle, or it was exceptional.

The A’s left-handed closer is likely to choose the second description.

He was down to throw up to 20 pitches in his scheduled inning of work against the Royals, but instead he needed just six pitches to put away three Kansas City hitters.

Doolittle had gone almost two weeks without pitching in a Cactus League game thanks to a bit of tenderness with his left triceps, but he said his arm felt fine, and while he threw just half a dozen pitches he got just what he wanted from the outing.
