PEORIA, Ariz. -- A's ace Sonny Gray has been cleared to resume throwing just two weeks after being diagnosed with a moderate strain of the lat muscle on the right side of his back.
The right-hander wasn't expected to be able to pick up a baseball again until the three-week mark, but he was given the green light by Dr. Anthony Romeo in Chicago on Monday after undergoing another MRI exam.
Gray doesn't know when he'll get on a mound again, and he's still expected to miss much of April, but the news he received while away was nonetheless encouraging.
