Dick Callahan, longtime PA announcer for the A's and Warriors, dies at 80

Dick Callahan, the public-address announcer for A’s games at the Oakland Coliseum for 15 seasons, died Friday morning, the team announced on Twitter.

"Today we lost a beloved member of our Green & Gold family, Dick Callahan. Our home games will not be the same without his voice echoing through the Coliseum," the A's tweeted.

Callahan voiced more than 1,000 home games for the Oakland A's, including his 1,000th game, a no-hitter thrown by A’s right-hander Mike Fiers against the Cincinnati Reds on May 7, 2019. Callahan missed the pandemic-shortened 2020 MLB season due to health issues, Athletics Nation said.
