Dennis Eckersley, who was on the mound the last time the Oakland A’s won a world championship, is returning to the organization as a special assistant to president Dave Kaval, the team announced Friday.
Eckersley becomes the second A’s Hall of Famer to rejoin the organization under Kaval.
“We are committed to honoring, and working with, our incredible alumni. Dennis is an integral part of our history and heritage,” said Kaval. “Dennis joins Rickey Henderson in an alumni ambassador role where he will help advise the club and represent us at community and fan events.”
Eckersley, who grew up in Fremont, has been a television analyst for the Boston Red Sox since 2009.
