Could Jed Lowrie land on A’s DL?

CHICAGO - Second baseman Jed Lowrie, who slightly strained his right knee on an awkward swing in his second at-bat Friday, is likely to see a doctor in Houston on Monday, manager Bob Melvin said.

Lowrie had been hopeful he would be able to play in the series opener against the Astros on Tuesday, but that appears a little more up in the air Sunday.

“We might have a little better idea where we’re going with him after the offday,” Melvin said.

Should the A’s need to place Lowrie on the DL, they’d have four infielder out of action: third baseman Matt Chapman, shortstop Marcus Semien and utility player Chad Pinder are already on the DL.
