OAKLAND – You can count the Houston Astros among those who will be in the hunt for the A’s Sonny Gray over the next six weeks as baseball heads toward the trade deadline.
Houston and Oakland have a “mutual interest” in making a deal work, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
He reported the A’s have scouts following the Astros farm system with the idea that a deal may happen.
“There’s mutual interest in getting something done for Gray as injuries have beset the Astros’ pitching staff,” Cafardo wrote. “They need reinforcements both in the rotation and the bullpen if they are to continue their great start.
