OAKLAND — It’s been a long road back for Chris Bassitt. There were times he thought a return was impossible. But it’s finally come.
The right-hander was recalled from Triple-A Friday afternoon after an impressive short stint with Nashville. Bassitt posted a 0.69 ERA over three appearances, going 1-0 while allowing just one earned run on nine hits and four walks with 12 strikeouts in 13 innings of work.
Bassitt, 29, returns to Oakland for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery to repair a torn UCL in his right elbow May 2016. He’s likely to make an appearance at some point this weekend against the Boston Red Sox, something he spent many days doubting would ever happen again during the grueling rehab process.
