OAKLAND -- A's third baseman Matt Chapman appears bound for the disabled list.
An MRI exam revealed no structural damage in Chapman's right hand, but the 25-year-old slugger is expected to undergo further evaluations and has been prescribed rest in the meantime.
"We're still kind of processing it at this point," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "I think we'll have a better idea tomorrow whether we're going to DL him or not."
Melvin, who later admitted "there's a decent chance we'll DL him," dictated a starting lineup sans Chapman for just the second time this season for Friday's series opener against the Angels, utilizing Chad Pinder at third base.
