Matt Olson made MLB history on Opening Day of the 2020 season. With the Oakland A’s and Los Angeles Angels locked in extra innings, Olson came up with the bases loaded and launched a towering 427-foot drive into the right-field seats. It was a walk-off grand slam, the first time anyone in the majors had done that on Opening Day in 34 years.
But that’s just another day at the office for Olson. He’s already hit 90 career homers in just over two seasons’ worth of games, and this was the third walk-off of his career. The first baseman has as much power as anybody in the sport in his sweet lefty stroke, and he knows how to use it.
