OAKLAND — Lou Trivino gave up a home run to Derek Fisher leading off the eighth inning Friday night as the Athletics fell to the Houston Astros 3-2 before a crowd of 14,519 at the Coliseum.
The Astros, playing without key injured starters Jose Altuve, George Springer, and Carlos Correa, trailed 2-0 going into the seventh inning courtesy of a two-run third-inning home run by the Athletics’ Matt Chapman, his 15th of the season.
Houston improved to 38-20 and increased their lead in the American League West to 8 1/2 games over the Athletics, who fell to 29-28 with their third consecutive defeat.
