Bruce Maxwell plans to make A’s roster decision tough

MESA, Ariz. - Bruce Maxwell had such a nice stint with Oakland late last season, batting .283 with 14 RBIs in 33 games, it’s clear he’s ready for the big leagues. He has no more to prove at the Triple-A level.

That’s probably where he’ll be, all the same. The A’s have a tried-and-true catching tandem in Stephen Vogt and Josh Phegley, and they don’t appear to have room for three catchers.

“Honestly, I could hit .900 in camp and I still might not make the roster,” Maxwell said.
