MESA, Ariz. - A’s manager Bob Melvin will rejoin the team Sunday following the death of his mother, Judy, late Friday afternoon.
Melvin returned to the Bay Area in time to see his mother, according to bench coach Mark Kotsay, who is managing the team in Melvin’s absence.
“Bob was able to be there, made it back,” Kotsay said. “It was important for him to be there, we all pushed him to get there and we’re thankful he did get there and was able to be with her.”
Kotsay said there are no details available yet about services.
