SAN DIEGO — A’s manager Bob Melvin had to do a double take during Tuesday night’s dramatic comeback victory at Petco Park. For a second, he thought he was back in Oakland.
When Stephen Piscotty crushed his two out, two strike game-tying solo home run in the ninth off Padres lights-out closer Brad Hand, not only did the A’s dugout erupt, so did the many A’s fans in attendance.
The “Lets Go Oakland” chants began in the early innings, even prompting Melvin to come up to the top step of the dugout and take a peek around the ballpark as A’s fans invaded Petco and turned it into Oakland Coliseum-South for the night.
