Blake Treinen named American League Reliever of the Month

SEATTLE — When you tie a record with the legendary Dennis Eckersley, you’re bound to win some type of award.

A’s closer Blake Treinen was named American League Reliever of the Month for May following a fantastic stretch that saw him convert all ten of his save opportunities for the month, tying Eckersley’s record set in 1992 for most saves in the month of May.

Treinen also picked up a win in May, going 1-0 with an ERA of 0.59 14 appearances.He struck out 19 batters and walked just five, holding them to a .151 batting average in 15 1/3 innings of work to become the first A’s reliever to win the award.
