OAKLAND -- Jed Lowrie's American League-leading 25th hit was launched for a solo home run in the first inning Tuesday, stoking a lively Coliseum crowd at the A's free game against the White Sox.
The birthday blast -- Lowrie turned 34 on Tuesday -- was the second baseman's fifth of the season, making the A's the only team employing three players with five home runs. Khris Davis and Matt Chapman have also tallied as many.
Lowrie not only leads the AL in hits, but is tops in RBIs, too, with 18 -- 16 of them coming in his last 12 games.
