MESA, Ariz. - An old friend visited A’s camp Tuesday: Barry Zito.
The former pitcher, in street clothes, addressed the team before the morning workout to invite players and staff to his musical performance at a Phoenix restaurant on Tuesday night.
Zito and his wife, Amber, have partnered with Easter Seals to further his work with military veterans. Zito and two songwriters from Nashville are performing (in the private gig) to help spread the word on their new campaign: “Pitch In For Vets.”
“Our goal is to raise awareness for what they’re doing and raise money for specific needs,” Zito said in an interview in the A’s clubhouse.
