Every club was represented at the 2022 MLB All-Star Game, including a team like the Oakland A’s, who boast the worst record in the American League. It’s one of the cooler things about the Midsummer Classic, where the best of the worst can still get the kind of honor that current stars and future Hall of Famers receive.
Of course, not all All-Star appearances are created equally, as A’s pitcher Paul Blackburn revealed to reporters on Thursday that his spot was used to fill as a supporting actor for another player’s potential late-career highlight. Even wilder was the fact that the other player, Cardinals legend Albert Pujols, was on the opposing team.
