A’s manager Bob Melvin had discussions with his team about accomplishing three things in the final weeks.
1. Beating the Astros, a team that dominated the A’s until losing four straight at the Coliseum this month. Check.
2. Improving on the road, where the A’s were dismal before their recent 6-3 trip. Check.
3. Playing better against division foes - the A’s won eight straight inside the American League West. Check.
Sunday’s 8-1 victory over the Rangers extended the A’s win streak to seven, their longest since winning nine straight in April 2013.
