Trayce Thompson’s two-week stay with the A’s and his brother Klay officially came to an end Thursday when he was traded to the Chicago White Sox.
Thompson, who was designated for assignment on Tuesday, was shipped to Chicago for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
In addition, the A’s optioned right-handed reliever Lou Trivino to Triple-A Nashville. It’s expected the A’s will reinstate reliever Yusmeiro Petit from the family medical emergency list this weekend.
The younger brother of the Warriors star had been living with his older brother since joining the A’s. Thompson finished his A’s career with just one hit in seven at-bats, but did contribute a home run-saving catch last week against Yasiel Puig and the Dodgers.
