OAKLAND – The A’s are scheduled to have a private workout with Cuban outfielder Luis Robert Friday.
Oakland isn’t the first club or the last club to give the 19-year-old hot prospect a look. The Reds are down to have him in next week, and the Astros had one earlier this. Other clubs are expected to join the fold.
What makes the timing interesting is that Ken Rosenthal tweeted that Major League Baseball officials have cleared Robert to sign with an MLB team during the current signing period, which lasts until June 15. MLB says the signing can take place beginning May 20.
