Oakland’s shift to a six-man rotation is moving into action.
Manager Bob Melvin said Wednesday morning that the upcoming rotation will go: Daniel Mengden, Kendall Graveman, Raul Alcantara and Ross Detwiler, and Sean Manaea, who has been out for more than a week with a back injury, might be back on the next road trip. At that point, with Wednesday starter Jharel Cotton also in the mix, the A’s will have six starters, and the question will be whether the rotation goes Cotton-Manaea or Manaea-Cotton.
The move to six starters makes sense but it’s been difficult to do with injuries to Manaea and Andrew Triggs, otherwise it would have happened a week earlier.
