A’s sweep doubleheader from first-place Astros

Houston seemingly owned the A’s for much of this season, taking 12 of the first 14 meetings between the teams.

But after Oakland swept a doubleheader from the Astros — winning 11-1 and 11-4 — at the Coliseum on Saturday, lo and behold, the A’s have won four in a row over the Western Division leaders.

And the Astros, who owned a seemingly comfortable lead for the AL’s best record a few weeks ago are now tied for the top spot at 86-56 with Cleveland, which beat the Orioles 4-2 Saturday for its 17th straight win.

Down 4-3 in the seventh inning of the nightcap, the A’s got a one-out triple into the right-field corner from rookie infielder Franklin Barreto.
