A’s Stephen Piscotty deal not completed but still expected to happen

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - A’s general manager David Forst said Thursday morning that the team was leaving the winter meetings with no trade for an outfielder in place, flatly saying, “There is no deal.”

Multiple sources, however, said Oakland remains close to acquiring Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty. The teams had agreed in principle on a trade that would send A’s minor-league infielders Yairo Munoz and Max Schrock to the Cardinals, as The Chronicle reported Wednesday, but the deal hit a snag at some point during the evening.
