MESA, Ariz. — Matt Chapman was mysteriously absent from Thursday’s workout at Fitch Park, and now there’s a reason for it.
As was first reported by MLB.com’s Jane Lee, the A’s third baseman was sent to Los Angeles Thursday for a precautionary MRI to examine soreness in his right hand. The A’s do not expect it to be a serious issue.
Chapman, 24, is the player the A’s expect to become a cornerstone of their franchise for his combination of Gold Glove-caliber defense and offensive firepower.
