Sonny Gray threw what would usually be a ho-hum, very normal bullpen session Tuesday.
However, it was the first time off the mound for Gray since being shut down with a lat strain last month, so it wasn’t insignificant.
“It felt really good,” the A’s top starter said after the 25-pitch session. “Really no issue at all. The plan going in was: a normal bullpen you’d throw in the middle of the season or whatever, there weren’t any limitations or anything.”
Manager Bob Melvin said that Gray used all his pitches and his effort level was at 100 percent.
