OAKLAND — Sean Manaea gave the A’s just what they needed to end their season-high eight-game losing streak.
After using eight pitchers Monday and another seven Tuesday night, the A’s desperately needed the left-hander to bounce back from his August struggles and eat up some innings. He did better than that in the final game of a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels at the Oakland Coliseum Wednesday afternoon, tossing six-innings of shutout baseball to lead his team to a 3-1 win.
Manaea, who went 1-3 with a 9.17 ERA in August, put together his best performance since May 26, holding an Angels offense that entered the game having scored more than five runs in seven-straight games, to five hits on 112 pitches.
