A’s send slumping Mark Canha back to Triple-A Nashville

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Mark Canha found his batting stroke earlier this year after a stint at Triple-A Nashville and now the A’s are sending the outfielder back to do so again.

Canha was demoted Friday when Oakland called up outfielder Jaycob Brugman for the first time in his big-league career. With right-hander Alex Cobb starting for the Rays on Friday, Brugman, 25, is likely to be in the A’s lineup, making his major-league debut.

With Canha’s departure, Brugman might see some decent playing time because he’s a left-handed hitter and he is a good defensive outfielder, with far more experience in center field than Canha has.
