OAKLAND – The A’s keep learning things about Chad Pinder they didn’t know.
He’s not a home run hitter, at least that’s not his rep, but he’s hit some of the longest homers the A’s have seen all year.
And he’s not a bad right fielder. For a shortstop.
Making just his second start in right field, Pinder threw out Toronto’s Kevin Pillar trying to stretch a single into a double in the fifth inning. By so doing, Pinder effectively muzzled the Jays offense, which did not rise again.
His teammates have seen him throw, but even so they marveled at the job he did.
