OAKLAND — The A’s had made a habit of building early deficits only to mount late-inning comebacks as of late, but that formula finally failed them.
Adter three consecutive comeback victories, two by the walk-off variety, in the past three days, the A’s dug themselves into an early hole that was just too deep enough to climb out of in Tuesday’s 10-4 loss against the San Francisco Giants.
Sean Manaea was shelled for five runs in the first inning. Although only one of the runs were earned after Yonder Alonso mishandled a ground ball and only ended up getting one out on two potential double-play balls, Manaea wasn’t fooling anyone.
