MESA, Ariz. – A’s pitchers will begin throwing to hitters today.
Well, most of them, anyway. Reliever Sean Doolittle is going to be held back. Except for pitchers coming back from injury like Felix Doubront and Chris Bassitt, he’s the only pitcher being so limited.
It’s not a question of Doolittle being hurt. It’s a matter of how valuable he is to the A’s and how much work they want to give him in Arizona. He’s their top left-handed reliever and they need Doolittle to be good to go come opening day.
He talks in terms of it being just smart baseball.
