A’s schedule weirdness: traditional double-header, pitchers hitting

The A’s play their series finale Wednesday afternoon with the chance to win their fourth straight homestand. A win over Toronto would conclude a three-game sweep - their first of the season -- and leave them at 4-2 in six games at home.

Then it’s on to Florida for a couple of unusual series.

The first in St. Petersburg, Fla., will include a rare double-header Saturday, and then a two-game interleague series in Miami in which A’s pitchers can step to the batter’s box and take some hacks.

Unless they’re told not to.

“There are some guys with some skills and some guys without,” manager Bob Melvin said.
