A’s Santiago Casilla discusses blown save, loss to Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas - Santiago Casilla declined to speak after blowing the save Friday because, the A’s closer said, he was too upset to discuss his night. He apologized to reporters Saturday for not speaking after the loss to the Rangers.

“I felt kind a little weird, I just didn’t think I was going to have anything good to say,” Casilla said, with Juan Dorado interpreting. “I didn’t really want to talk about it, I didn’t think anything would come out well.”

Casilla, the A’s primary closer, said that he was especially frustrated because he’d thrown good pitches to Jonathan Lucroy and Rougned Odor to start the ninth inning; Lucroy reached on a groundball single, Odor reached on a flare off the end of the bat.
