A’s Ryan Dull could barely push off mound while beating Red Sox

OAKLAND — Ryan Dull managed to fight through the pain and get Red Sox first baseman Mitch Moreland to fly out Friday night on a ball Khris Davis tracked down in the left field corner, stranding the go-ahead runner at second.

He was the winning pitcher moments later when Mark Canha opened up the bottom of the 10th inning with a walk-off home run in the A’s 3-2 victory.

It’s the last pitch Dull will throw this month, with the A’s 27-year-old reliever being placed on the disabled list Saturday morning with a right knee strain.

The injury happened suddenly, occurring on the first pitch of the Moreland at-bat.
