ARLINGTON, Texas – For the moment, Oakland’s fifth starter, Raul Alcantara, remains in the A’s rotation and is down to start Thursday in Kansas City.
There is lots of time between now and then, however, and those plans are subject to alteration.
For one thing, the A’s have a day off Tuesday in Kansas City, so the club could opt to keep the other four starters pitching in every-fifth-day fashion and skip Alcantara, who threw just two innings Friday in a 10-5 loss to the Rangers, allowing eight runs.
Asked if there could be changes, A’s manager Bob Melvin said “We’ll see.
