MESA, Ariz. — A’s reliever Sean Doolittle is getting closer to his spring debut. He threw about a 20-pitch simulated game on the back field before Saturday’s game against the Texas Rangers that included a pair of strikeouts.
“I was very happy with how it went,” Doolittle said. “It’s my second time facing live hitters and it was a definite improvement from the first time. I was much happier with the way I was able to repeat my delivery and had a better rhythm and tempo about it, so it was a really productive day.”
Doolittle may do one more simulated game before making his first Cactus League appearance.
