OAKLAND — The second-leading home run hitter in all of minor league baseball joined the A’s roster as a September recall Tuesday, a sign that the Majors top slugger over the last two seasons could be the next star player shipped out of Oakland.
With the conclusion of Triple-A Nashville’s season Monday, the A’s recalled slugger Renato Nunez, starting pitcher Daniel Mengden, infielder Joey Wendle and reliever Raul Alcantara Tuesday.
Nunez is the most noteworthy recall as he finished his season with the Sounds tied for second in the Pacific Coast League and minor league baseball in home runs with 32 round trippers.
