The A's recalled outfielder Dustin Fowler from Triple-A Nashville and placed right-handed pitcher Trevor Cahill on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to Sunday with a right elbow impingement, both moves leading up to Wednesday's game against the Astros in Oakland.
Fowler, Oakland's No. 5 prospect as ranked by MLB Pipeline, was batting .300 with three home runs, 16 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 30 games with Nashville. After hitting .250 over his first 16 games, he batted .370 with five doubles, three triples, three home runs and 10 RBIs over his past 14 contests.
