OAKLAND — Bruce Maxwell continued to protest the national anthem before Sunday’s game against the Texas Rangers, once again going down on one knee at the Coliseum.
Maxwell was the only player to do so. The A’s catcher once again had teammate Mark Canha by his side, hand placed on Maxwell’s shoulder, to show support for the cause Maxwell continues to fight for in the wake of President Donald Trump’s recent comments that any athlete who decides to sit out the anthem should be fired.
A’s catcher Bruce Maxwell kneels again for anthem. Was not joined by any teammates, but received hugs afterwards.
