OAKLAND — Yonder Alonso has been enjoying what is by far the most successful season of his big-league career, and on Tuesday his year of good fortune continued.
The All-Star first baseman was named the A’s winner of the 2017 Heart and Hustle Award. All 30 MLB teams select a recipient for the award, which is voted on by former players and is given to an active player who most represents a passion for the game of baseball, and best embodies the values, spirit and tradition of the game.
“A lot of good things for Yonder this year and this included,” manager Bob Melvin said.
