Third baseman Matt Chapman was reinstated from the disabled list Tuesday, creating a domino effect with the A’s roster.
Jed Lowrie slid from third base back to second in the opener of an interleague series with the Padres, and top hitting prospect Franklin Barreto was shipped back to Triple-A Nashville after filling in at second during Chapman’s 2 1/2-week absence.
Chapman was shelved with carpal boss, a bony growth on the back of the hand where the index and middle fingers meet the carpal bones in the wrist, and felt good after taking four at-bats in a Monday rehab game with Class A Stockton.
