A’s Marcus Semien: run-scoring machine vs. Boston

Marcus Semien lived a leadoff hitter’s dream the past two days by scoring five straight runs, all three Saturday and the first two Sunday.

Semien bats leadoff against left-handers, and the Red Sox started nothing but lefties in the three-game series.

“Marcus has speed and is aggressive on the bases,” Khris Davis said, “so that takes something from the pitcher to pay attention to him so we could get mistakes.”

Twice on Sunday, Davis knocked in Semien, on a first-inning single and eighth-inning homer.

The home run pitch was a mistake as David Price worked from the stretch and left a cutter out over the plate rather than hitting his spot inside.
