SEATTLE — Oakland’s offense couldn’t get much going against Seattle starter James Paxton in the A’s ’ 7-2 loss to the Mariners on Friday night.
A pair of RBI singles by Nelson Cruz helped the Mariners tie Oakland 2-2 and a sacrifice fly by Kyle Seager in the bottom of the third gave Seattle the lead.
Cruz (3 for 4) hit a three-run home run in the eighth off reliever Liam Hendriks, and Seager added another sacrifice fly for the game’s final score.
Marcus Semien provided the offense for the A’s with a two-run double in the top of the third.
