A’s lose another starting pitcher to the disabled list

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A’s starter Andrew Triggs pointedly said that having an injured hip was no excuse for the fact that he couldn’t throw strikes in Friday’s 13-4 loss to the Rays.

It was enough of a problem that he landed on the disabled list Saturday, with the A’s recalling first baseman Matt Olson just five days after he’d been sent down. Olson is expected to start, probably in right field, in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.

The A’s made one more move Saturday, officially making left-handed reliever Sean Doolittle their 26th man for the doubleheader.
