A”s Khris Davis sidelined with minor quad issue

MESA, Ariz. - A’s slugger Khris Davis won’t play until Sunday at the earliest because of a minor quad issue, manager Bob Melvin said Friday at Hohokam Stadium.

Davis, who hit 42 homers last year, didn’t play Thursday as a result of right quad soreness. He’s batting .250 with no homers and five RBIs this spring.

“We don’t think it’s that big a concern,” Melvin said.

Outfielder Jaff Decker’s shot at making the Opening Night roster might be diminishing as he returns from an oblique strain. Decker is scheduled to take batting practice or hit in the cage Friday, but he is not yet scheduled for game action.
